At JC Electric we are focused on today and tomorrow. We hire green employees and train them to be the quality electricians you expect from our company. We treat our employees like family and they take pride in doing a good job for themselves, for us, and for you.

Our Story 

John and Christine Coates moved to Durham, NC from Columbus, OH in the early 1990s to live closer to family. It was supposed to be a short time stop on their way to living at the beach. However, they fell in love with the Triangle and decided to put down roots. 

Once in Durham, Christine completed her nursing degree from Wake Tech and John went on to work or Watson Electrical. In 1999, John started and incorporated J.C. Electrical in their home’s garage. Several of their family members also became employed by JC Electrical in the years that followed: Rick (John’s brother), Ken (John’s brother), Joe (John’s brother), Kay (John’s mother), Marla (John’s sister), Chris (John’s brother in-law), Duey (Christine’s father), Alan(nephew), Josh(nephew) and Alex (John and Christine’s son). J.C. Electrical has always been a family business. 

JC Electrical started with small commercial projects and has slowly graduated to working on million-dollar projects. Our first major customer was pharmaceutical giant Glaxo Smith Kline (until they moved their headquarters out of NC). Over the years, we have helped to build new schools in Wake County and have completed several major lab renovations at local universities (including the UNC system). Today, we regularly employee 50+ staff and have become a fixture in the Triangle. 

At JC Electrical, we love working with our business, non-profit, government, K-12, and university clients.  We look forward every day to helping our clients actualize their visions for new construction and renovations in our vibrant, growing community.
